If you live in the southern Arkansas region, these lawn care tips will help you maintain healthy grass.
Watering in the high sun can scorch grass blades on the surface and kill your lawn very quick.
When mowing your lawn, be sure to cut no more than 1/3rd off the grass blade height. Cutting too short weakens the root and the crown, and makes the lawn susceptible to weeds and insects. A healthy grass height of 3 to 3.5 inches will ease stress and survive the summer drought.
Watering at night can cause fungus growth in your grass and cause browning.
During the summer months when grass is growing at it's fastest, it is best to mow twice a week to prevent the grass from getting too tall.
Mowing a dormant lawn on a dry winter day is a great way to groom your lawn and remove debris. This is a great time to inspect your lawn for winter weeds and prepare for spring treatment.
January and February is a good time to plant new shrubs and trees in our region. Be sure to follow planting and care instructions for each breed.
